"How to make a video for YouTube"
Top 5 tips: Making a video for YouTube
1 Who hasn’t wasted hours watching YouTube? But how do you go about showing the world your own efforts? It’s easy. Step one: record some video footage. Camcorders are best, but you could also use the movie mode on a digital camera, mobile phone or even a webcam.
2 You might think your videos are fantastic in their raw state, but even Spielberg uses an editor. So copy the video onto your PC or Mac and use their built-in MovieMaker or iMovie programs to crop clips into a more accessible length. YouTube limits videos to 10 minutes on free accounts.
3 Once you’ve signed-up for a free account at YouTube, you can upload your video. Each video can be no more than 100MB, but that’d take ages to send. Instead use Windows MovieMaker or iMovie to reduce the quality when saving. This will shrink your video and send it much faster.
4 Once its received your video, YouTube will convert it for the website. This can take a while, from several minutes to several hours. We’ve found quieter times either late at night or early in the morning are often much quicker.
5 You can make your video private, but it’s much easier to share when it’s public. And don’t worry, it’s easy for any potentially embarrassing material to become lost amongst the barrage of new video uploads. Well not really. We just want a laugh as much as the next person.
